Steg Engineering is a medium sized General Engineering company that provides service to the Steel Industry in Small to Heavy Machining, Fitting and Fabrication. We carry out large and small scale projects. Also able to respond to emergency work around the clock.

Steg Engineering began in 1987 when Steve and Greg left the BHP Western Port Steel Works to create their own general engineering workshop.

Steve came with 15 years of experience as a machinist, inspector, estimator and planner, and workshop supervisor. Greg came with 13 years experience as a machinist, draftsman, leading hand, machine shop supervisor and as the service shop general manager. As of 2014 the pair have a combined experience in the industry of 88 years!

From small beginnings Steg has grown not only in size but in capability, experience and most importantly in a trusting customer base. Our experience with Bluescope Steel maintenance items is unsurpassed, and because of this, we have had the ongoing trust of Bluescope Steel as a customer for many years.

Central to our service are our talented Foreman and Estimator/Planner who have trained up from within the business. Between these two skilled machinists are a total of 35 years of experience.

Steg has diversified it's customer base to service a range of manufacturers for export and for the domestic market. We are proud to service Esso, Doen Marine, BAE Systems, Wilson Transformers and Andritz, to name just a few. Steg Engineering has built a reputation for our service, including our quality, customer service and timely delivery of projects that is unsurpassed in the industry.

Joining the management team since 2013, and as a director since 2015 is Greg’s son Aran, who holds a Master of Engineering Science in Mechanical Engineering and worked for 9 years in Switzerland for Alstom Gas Turbine in the design, product support departments and as a project manager in the sales department. Prior to this Aran worked in the offshore engineering consulting industry and completed his Masters in fluid mechanics research at Monash University. Aran has a combined experience of 13 years experience as a Mechanical Engineer.

The additional mechanical engineering skills allow Steg Engineering to become a complete engineering one-stop-shop offering design, drafting and manufacturing services. Aran also brings a personal passion and experience in Additive Manufacturing (commonly known as 3D printing) including both plastic and metals — something which is rare to find in the Australian market — due to his contacts with a partner firm in Switzerland.
